as a HK born designer, I feel a shame on the HK publisher. I really dont think they have much respect on art work and design. I will help you to spread this out.

I posted on my blog last week to help spread the word. I will update it with your info. You did a great job of explaining what is happening. I wish you the best in getting the results you want and finding out who is responsible.

I've posted about this situation on my blog. Intellectual property online is a field full of rusty, unpredictable mines. I'm sorry that you and your colleagues got tagged with some shrapnel. Fingers crossed that you'll get some increased audience exposure out of it.

Thanks Luc. Seeing the outcry has been really nice. I am particularly proud of the non-artists and illustrators not ripped off in this book showing so much support and love. It is a scary thought to think this may not be the last time this happens. And it may not have been the first. There could be other books out there with our work and we wouldn't know it. Thank goodness artist Jonathan Edwards stumbled across this book and had the knowledge to recognize where the art and interviews came from.

I feel your anger bro. Thanks for the backlink by the way. :)

The good news is that our "crowd sourced" internet campaign to bring attention to this bogus publisher's piracy is wonderfully strong. Hundreds of people have blogged this, collecting thousands of comments, and no doubt tens of thousands of pairs of eyes reading this and passing it on and talking about it. All this in just a three or four days! My own site jumped from ±100x hits per day to over 3000.

But if Louis Vuitton and Rolex can't stop their products from being mass-pirated (heck you can even find cheap copies in major North American cities), I doubt we'll stop these jerks from selling the books and even doing this again with content from Flickr, etc..

The best part of this for me has been the amazing rallying round and support that people have shown, as well as their generous blogging. Some Spanish illustrators (the book is being sold in stores there, as well as online on over 30 sites) have offered to help by calling the stores to explain the situation and getting their local illustration associations to step forward to see what they can do.

As much as this book shows that some people are total asses (the pirate publishers!), it's shown me there are 100x more nice people out there.

OK, rant over. Keep your spirits up. :)
