Jungle Dragon illustrations completed

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

For the past few months, in between various other jobs, I’ve been working on a series of 12 animal illustrations for Ferdy Christant , a developer that is creating a very unique social networking site for animal enthusiasts (I know I’m over-simplifying it) called Jungle Dragon. A while back, I created the lizard icon/mascot for the site. The illustrations will be used in various ways throughout the site, as well as marketing materials in the lead up to the site launch date. Well, I finally completed the final illustration and wanted to share all of them with you.

Each of the illustrations was completed entirely in Adobe Photoshop CS4 without any preliminary sketches thanks to Ferdy giving me free reign. I used various reference images for the creatures and started with a blank canvas using Photoshop’s pen, marque, shape and brush tools. Each image took from 4 to 6 hours to complete.

King Cobra and Children’s Art Show

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Above is an illustration of a King Cobra done for Ferdy Christant over at Jungle Dragon. I’m illustrating a series of twelve animals and insects for the Jungle Dragon website. I’ll share more of them as I get them done.

Also, this evening my kids had some of their art on the walls of a local library as part of an art exhibit through their homeschool group. You may notice that Antonia did a pencil drawing of a King Cobra. It was a fun evening of viewing art from all the students. Corina did a really cool drawing of Wonder Woman, while Armando did an interesting painting of a house using only two colors.

Jungle Dragon Artwork

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I’ve been working with developer and entrepreneur Ferdy Christant on illustrations for his pet project, Jungle Dragon, which is a photo- and knowledge-sharing site with advanced collaboration features focused on nature. It’s a really interesting project. Ferdy contacted me to create a mascot illustration for the website, which you can see above. I’ve also moved on to creating a dozen icon illustrations featuring various animals that will also be used throughout the site. I love animals and nature, so this was an excellent project for me to get involved with. Below is one of the other illustrations for the project. I’ll post more as I get them done.
